A Texas woman was incarcerated and was convicted of a third-degree felony crime last week when she attempted to offer $500,000 to a mother for her child, police stated.
Rebecca Lanette Taylor, 49, was arrested last week after the accusation of selling and purchasing an infant as NBC affiliate KETK-TV reported. The child was held by his mother on a self-checkout line at a Walmart store in Crockett, Texas when a “white woman with blonde hair approached.”
The police held the right and abstained from an immediate response to the incident. It is also not disclosed if Taylor is having any legal representation to back her in the criminal charges.
KETK-TV reported that the police records show that Taylor “began commenting on her son’s blonde hair and blue eyes. She asked how much she could purchase him for. (The mom) tried to laugh this comment off, thinking Taylor was joking. Taylor told her that she had $250,000 in the car and she would pay that much for him. (The mom) told her no amount of money would do.”

The mother of the child told the police that the accused was not alone. She was accompanied by another woman who asked the name of her child. The mother said she didn’t tell the name to any of the women but still those women began to call her out even in the parking area.
She said that Taylor wanted to purchase the child for a longer time but the mother warned her to stay away from her child and stay in the car so the women could leave.
According to the police records acquired by KETK-TV, they mentioned;
“Taylor began screaming at (the mom), saying if she wouldn’t take $250,000 for him, then she would give her $500,000 because she wanted him and she was going to take him.”
The mother locked herself with her child in her car and waited for the women to leave when they got into their Black SUV and left. The Police issued the warrant of her arrest when the mother reported to the Crockett police.
Police said that they have watched the surveillance camera footage and found that the mother’s claim matches the incident.
