Roundup Lawsuit

September 18, 2020

A multinational pharmaceutical company, Bayer has been charged several lawsuits for the manufacture of Roundup, a commonly used herbicide or weed killer. Farmers and people who got sick because of the weed killer have been filing for a Roundup class-action lawsuit against Bayer. These thousands of court cases are better known as Roundup lawsuits.

Roundup has been linked to a disease known as Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which is a form of cancer. Even though Bayer has been losing at most of the trials, the conglomerate defends its product in the Roundup lawsuit by stating that Glyphosate is not a cancer-causing agent in human beings. The Roundup lawsuit settlement amounts vary between 80 million and 2 billion U.S Dollars

Glyphosate is a systematic herbicide that kills unwanted weeds, which contend with crops, it is also the active ingredient used in Roundup. The World Health Organization (W.H.O) has stated that “the chemical is most likely carcinogenic in nature.” This has led Roundup to be banned in more than 20 countries, including Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Italy, the Netherlands, the U.A.E, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Thailand, Vietnam, and Costa Rica.

In other Roundup lawsuit news, Glyphosate is the most comprehensively employed chemical in agricultural applications. It is applied to soybeans, corn, cotton, and wheat all over the world. It is also used in personal gardens and lawns.

This heavy use of Glyphosate makes it next to impossible to avoid since it even affects those who aren’t in the agriculture field. Traces of this herbicide chemical are estimated to be present in 95% of the human population. Most children had an even higher amount of the chemical in their digestive systems on average.

Oatmeal, cereal, honey oats, and even baby food have this chemical in it. Several cases corresponding to the Roundup lawsuit settlement are attributed to syndromes caused to infants and newborn babies.

Some people are trying to avoid exposure to the dangerous herbicide by adopting organic food, but even they are said to be at risk since runoff water from Roundup cultivated crops ends up into nearby rivers and streams, affecting animals that drink from those contaminated waters. Traces of this chemical have been found in animals as well, making Glyphosate the highest-profile chemical in the world.

As a result, many Roundup lawsuit attorneys have come up with little to no-obligation consultation and free lawsuit services to address the huge contaminant at hand.

A. the Roundup lawsuit settlement value has more than quadrupled in the last half-decade. In 2018, the California state courts awarded victims with $290 million in damages. In February and May of the same year, the same courts awarded plaintiffs with $80 million and $2 billion respectively.

A: An estimated 125,000 cases have been filed, while the official number stands at 52,000 cases.
